TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE: MELODIC CONSTRUCTION, HARMONY, STRUCTURE/FORM, RHYTHM, MUSICIANSHIP, LYRIC WRITING, SIGHT READING, RHYME SCHEME, AND ORCHESTRATION (ADVANCED ONLY). ENROLLED STUDENTS ALSO PARTICIPATE IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDING RECITALS, CONCERTS, FESTIVALS, AND COMPETITIONS.

PIANO AT PCC FOCUSES ON A COMPREHENSIVE UNDERSTANDING OF THE LANGUAGE OF MUSIC AS WELL AS THE DEVELOPMENT OF FINGER SKILL, SIGHT READING, AND INTERPRETATION. INEXPERIENCED STUDENTS FIND THEMSELVES AT AN INTERMEDIATE LEVEL OF SKILL WITHIN SIX MONTHS OR LESS!

THE GUITAR PROGRAM AT PERFORMERS CAREER CENTER FOCUSES ON AN INFUSION OF SOIL TECHNICAL FOUNDATIONS (lNCLUDING MECHANICS, FINGERING, AGILITY AND PHRASING) WITH TRAINING IN THEORY, HARMONY, MODAL SCALES AND GENRE-SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE. STUDENTS LEARN RAPIDLY, AND IT IS THE INSTRUCTOR'S GOAL TO HAVE BEGINNING STUDENTS PLAYING A FULL SONG WITHIN THE FIRST OR SECOND LESSON!
