Max Ehrich
"Jack" understudy in original cast of Broadway's Newsies

"I walked into Patrick Wickham's office at 15 not able to sing for a prolonged period of time without my voice getting very tired. I had been to numerous voice teachers and nothing quite solved the mystery of how to sing effortlessly. At first when I was introduced to a bit of massage therapy around my larynx, I was a bit skeptical and it was quite painful from all the years of speaking and singing without the proper support. After we went through that process and exercises I sang a song from my favorite musical at the time, Spring Awakening. I found that I could sing with such ease and hit notes I did not know were in my range... I finally found my fit!

Since then, I have been fortunate enough to land a role in the film "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" which introduced me to the film and television world such as Ugly Betty, The Pregnancy Pact, iCarly, Parenthood, No Ordinary Family, and currently The Young and the Restless.

About a year ago I received a call from my agent asking me if I would be interested in auditioning for Newsies at the Papermill Playhouse. I was quite nervous since it was a while since I had been honing in on my technique and right away called Patrick. I ended up landing a supporting role and the understudy to the lead "Jack Kelly," which was portrayed by Jeremy Jordan. Patrick was with me every step of the way and made sure not only that my technique was there, but also that my performance value was at it's best. With Patrick, there is no room to just get by, he has always pushed me beyond my personal limitations. I could not recommend anyone more than Patrick Wickham... and I have been to some of "the best voice teachers in NYC." His honesty, drive,  and passion continues to inspire me. He is not only my teacher, mentor, but my good friend."
