Wickham Vocal Studios strives to provide education that best meets the demands of a performance career.  Knowing the challenges today’s vocalist faces is an integral part of best knowing how to overcome them.  In that spirit, WVS strives to only accept students we know will benefit from advanced instruction.  In other words, if you are looking for a karaoke career… please look somewhere else!

So, who exactly are we looking for?

Who is our ideal student?

What do we demand?

Talent – A natural propensity to absorb and assimilate information.

Persistence – An intense motivation to push and better oneself despite constant setbacks.  Success in the performance world is measured by failure!  Those willing to fail the most, succeed the most.  Consider this quote:  “Amateurs do it until they get it right.  Professionals do it until they cannot get it wrong.”

Optimism – Consistently making the conscious choice to subjectively view any situation by their most positive and motivating aspects.

Health – The ability to view your entire body (mind, frame, muscle… your very cells) as the entirety of the vocal instrument and the commitment to refine the instrument to its highest potential.  This includes optimizing:  detoxification, nutrition, exercise, water intake, sleep, structural alignment and function.

Compliance – The ability to follow through with the program at the moments you are least motivated and most likely to do something else.  Remember, motivation is wavering.  Almost every great singer attempted to quit and do something else at some point in their career!

Communication – As trust is built, it is imperative that communication be open and honest.  Wickham Vocal Studios instructors are bound by contract and certification to never share any information entrusted them by a student outside of a lesson.  As the student is the instrument in its entirety, the student must be able to share influences on that instrument.  Unresolved questions about instruction can lead to frustration.

If you are willing to commit to really changing your performance instrument to master your voice, you will be hard-pressed to find better training… anywhere!
